Playing Catch-Up
If you haven’t noticed by now I haven’t been posting this past week. My apologizes and the only excuse is that I’ve been swamped with work and other activities. Allow me to go into detail…a little
Last week I wrapped up upgrading The Dayton Chess Club website to Joomla’s new improved 1.5 Content Management System. Well, unfortunately I thought I had it all figured out…nope. Still had some bugs to fix. So, finally a week later after completion I can say the majority have been fixed. It doesn’t help when there is a big chess tournament this weekend and people are trying to register on the site and constantly emailing the problems you are already aware of but haven’t gotten to…yet.
Then there is the HipHopRemix website that I run. The problem with this project is basically the hosting company and if you’ve followed me on Twitter and now Plurk you’ll know that almost daily I’m asking questions about MySQL’s and databases. The hosting company in question? Aplus.net - I’ve made sure in the past not to name the company because I’m fairly optimistic and dealing with customer service changes from person-to-person. Yet, this company has shown it’s true colors and has pushed HipHopRemix towards a dedicated server when it was never needed. They are aware of this as am I. While I am planning my next move (legally) I will now start letting my network of contacts (growing rapidly recently) know just what type of company Aplus.net truly is. The great thing about it is that I have every conversation, email and phone conversation recorded for record purposes.
Then there is ChristRoom. Something I wish I could work more on but just can’t find the time until recently. I was able to work on a few things where users can now pick various layouts and I’m trying to work with Google Maps for events. Then from there I’m working on a marketing plan that I have the basis laid out to start out this fall. I’m still looking for designers for the site but still prevailing as I learn new things everyday: thanks to one particular member at ChristRoom. Thanks Andrew so far!
So, as you can see I’ve been extremly busy and haven’t made time for this blog. I apologize because I have a lot of topics I wanted to cover specially that of the new 3G iphone. It will wait though because this weekend I will be helping out at the Dayton Chess Club for the 50th Gem City Open. Here’s to 70+ players: CHEERS!

Awesome to check out other designer/developers sites to see what they have going on. All of you sites seem pretty clean and neat, and have a good feel to them. If you need any help or have any questions about design/code/etc. don’t hesistate to contact me at mordey@gmail.com
Keep up the good work man, it will pay off in the end (if it isn’t already :P)
